Introduction to Web Design is an introductory
course to the fast growing industry of Web site design and development.
This course will provide students with a solid understanding of the
entire Web site development process. Students will learn to use
Microsoft FrontPage to design and publish Web sites. Throughout
this course, students will be encouraged to use the Internet to aid in
the learning process.
The
course will introduce Web design concepts and skills, vocabulary,
software applications, evaluation techniques and related social and
ethical issues.
This
“Introduction to Web Design” course will promote a project-based
learning environment using standards-based projects and activities while
exploring the range of Web design technologies.
The
approach to the material will be student-centered with reliance upon
teacher guidance and facilitation.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

Explain what Web design is and identify different types of Web sites.

Demonstrate an understanding of how society utilizes and interacts with
the World Wide Web.

Access the Internet for communication and research.
¨
Describe a variety of Web design software programs and explain their
purposes in Web site development.

Demonstrate the use of text in a variety of projects as well as explain
the guidelines for using text in each type of project.
¨
Explain the different types of graphic formats and identify which type
of format would be best implemented for Web use.
¨
Describe how audio and video are used in Web sites.
¨
Describe the different tools used to produce, edit, and access audio
components.
¨
Describe the different tools available to produce, edit, and access
video components.
¨
Describe the roles, job responsibilities, and educational backgrounds
for members of a Web design team.
¨
Define and explain the various states of a Web design project
¨
Describe the stages of the creation of a Web page.
¨
Create and publish a Web site using Microsoft FrontPage.
